1 cup dal wash and soak in warm water for 30 minutes.
Ingredients:
1 teaspoon garlic minced-3 pods
salt according to taste
pinch of turmeric
1 teaspoon garam masala
1 teaspoon oil
Tempering:
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
2 tablespoon ghee
1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder or paprika
1/2 small chopped red onions
Cook the lentils with 3 cups of water salt , garlic and garam masala in a traditional cooker till you hear 3 whistles and then lower the heat till steam goes down. Let it cool down and then in a small pan prepare for tempering.
Add ghee and then cumin seeds till you hear the crackling and then add onions till golden brown and red chilli powder n the end. Turn the gas off and add this to your lentils. Garnish with chopped cilantro. Serve with rice or roti.
