Red Lentils mixed with broken pigeon pea lentil

Khatti Meethi dal-Sweet & sour lentil.

Ingredients: 3/4th cup broken pigeon pea lentil-(arhar or toor dal)

1/4th cup-Red lentils-masoor dal

1 tablespoon avocado oil

2 tomatoes

1 teaspoon grated ginger

1 chopped green chillies

1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder

1 teaspoon coriander powder

1plus 1/4th teaspoon salt or accoeding to your taste

pinch of asafetida

Tempering-

1 teaspoon cumin seeds

1 tablespoons ghee

1/2 small red onion chopped finely

handful of curry leaves

1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder

1 dried red chili

Wash the lentils properly and soak it in warm water for 15-20 minutes

In Instant pot- on saute mode add 1 tablespoon oil-add pinch of asafetida, salt , tomatoes and ginger. Stir it well, add green chillies , coriander powder and turmeric. Now drain the water from the lentils. Add the lentils and 3 1/2cups of water. Turn the saute mode off. In instant pot close the lid and put the vent on and manual pressure cook for 5 minutes. Quick release , open the lid stir well. Now prepare for tempering- In a small sauce pan, add ghee then cumin sees once it becomes brown add the chopped onions, curry leaves , dry chili and red chilli powder, stir well and add the tempering on top of the lentils. Garnish with chopped cilantro. Serve with white basmati rice.
