Urad Dal

A north indian delicacy- white urad dal cooked with spices and veggies.


Ingredients-


1 cup urad dal

2 chopped tomatoes

1/2 small sliced onions

3 cloved garlic chopped

2 green chillies

1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder

salt according to taste

1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder

1 teaspoon garam masala

1 tablespoon oil

1 tablespoon ghee

1 teaspoon cumin seeds

cilantro to garnish.

Cook urad dal in a pan with 3 cups of water, add salt, turmeric powder, oil and garam masala. Once you see the water evaporating add the chopped tomatoes and green chillies. Continue to cook till lentils are well dissolved , simmer. Now for tempering- dd ghee then let it warm up add cumin seeds, sliced onions, garlic and red chilli powder and pour it on the lentils and garnish with cilantro. Serve with hot chapati or parantha!
